Product details

ab250699 is the carrier-free version of ab183726.

Patented technology
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

Compatibility
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

Supplementary information

NC2 alpha also known as Dr1-associated cofactor 1 (Drap1) is a transcriptional regulatory protein with a molecular mass of approximately 65 kDa. It functions mechanically as a repressor of RNA polymerase II transcription and is widely expressed in various tissues with higher levels noted in the liver and brain. NC2 alpha exerts its function by binding to TBP-DNA complexes modulating their transcriptional activities. Its role as a negative regulatory element is critical in controlling gene expression.
Biological function summary

NC2 alpha participates as part of the NC2 complex partnering with NC2 beta to fine-tune transcription initiation. The complex competitively interacts with TBP influencing the accessibility of transcription factors to the promoter regions. This regulation impacts a broad range of cellular processes which include cell cycle progression and differentiation. NC2 alpha through these biological functions plays a role in maintaining cellular homeostasis ensuring that genes are expressed at appropriate levels.

Pathways

NC2 alpha integrates into transcriptional regulation pathways that are significant in controlling gene expression. Within these pathways NC2 alpha collaborates with proteins such as TBP and NC2 beta which together influence the initiation phase of transcription. Notable pathways include the TFIID and TFIIB-mediated transcription pathways. Through interaction with these proteins NC2 alpha modulates transcriptional initiation contributing to the proper regulation of gene expression.

NC2 alpha associates with several pathological conditions including cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. In cancer the dysregulation of NC2 alpha influences gene expression patterns potentially leading to tumorigenesis. In neurodegenerative diseases NC2 alpha may interfere with transcriptional regulation contributing to the pathological features of these disorders. The interplay between NC2 alpha and TBP in these conditions highlights its significant role in disease progression marking it as a potential target for therapeutic intervention.

Target data

The association of the DR1/DRAP1 heterodimer with TBP results in a functional repression of both activated and basal transcription of class II genes. This interaction precludes the formation of a transcription-competent complex by inhibiting the association of TFIIA and/or TFIIB with TBP. Can bind to DNA on its own.
