Biological function summary
NCKAP1 contributes to cell motility and morphology by participating in lamellipodia and filopodia formation. It forms part of the WAVE complex which includes proteins such as ABI CYFIP and WASP-family proteins. This complex plays a role in rearranging the actin cytoskeleton necessary for various cell movements and shape changes important in processes like cell migration and wound healing.

NCKAP1 interacts within the Rac1 signaling pathway. Its actions in the Rac1 pathway are important for membrane ruffling and cell spreading. NCKAP1 is also linked to the mTOR pathway through its role in regulating cytoskeletal dynamics.
