Biological function summary
Ninjurin2 contributes to the repair and regeneration of nerve tissues. It actively engages in cellular communication promoting neurogenesis and synapse formation in the nervous system. Ninjurin2 is not known as part of a larger protein complex but it functions alongside molecules involved in cellular regeneration. Research suggests a significant involvement in the modulation of immune responses interfacing with immune cells during injury response.
Pathways
Ninjurin2 functions within important neural and immune signaling routes. It participates in the neuroplasticity pathway which is critical for healing neural injuries and supports the immune surveillance system by communicating with cytokines. The protein works closely with other related proteins like Ninjurin1 which shares similar cellular roles as well as integrins which help mediate its cellular adhesion functions.
