Biological function summary
The NL63 nucleoprotein is essential for the stability of the viral RNA genome. It forms a helical ribonucleoprotein complex protecting viral RNA from host cell degradation mechanisms. This protein interacts with the viral polymerase complex to facilitate viral replication and transcription. It is part of a multi-protein complex that includes other viral structural proteins such as membrane and envelope proteins. Through these interactions the nucleoprotein coordinates viral assembly and release from host cells.
Pathways
The NL63 nucleoprotein interacts with pathways related to viral replication and translation processes in host cells. It is involved in the RNA synthesis pathway where it aids in the synthesis of viral RNA a critical step for viral propagation. The nucleoprotein relates to other viral proteins like the spike glycoprotein which plays a role in virus entry into host cells. Through these pathways the nucleoprotein regulates viral life cycle stages ensuring efficient replication and spread.
