Product details

ab316741 is the carrier-free version of ab316740.

Patented technology
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

Compatibility
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

Supplementary information

This supplementary information is collated from multiple sources and compiled automatically.

NLGN4 also known as Neuroligin 4 is part of the neuroligin family comprising postsynaptic cell-adhesion molecules involved in synapse formation and function. NLGN4 has 816 amino acids and an approximate mass of 103 kDa. This protein is located on the X chromosome and is mainly expressed in the brain. It is found in various neuronal tissues and has a role in the development and maintenance of synapses.
Biological function summary

The protein is important for synaptic maturation and maintaining stable synaptic contacts. NLGN4 is part of a larger complex that includes neurexins which are presynaptic proteins. Through its interactions with neurexins NLGN4 helps establish and maintain the physical and functional interface between neurons facilitating synaptic transmission. This interaction is essential for effective neuronal communication and contributes to the structural integrity of synaptic connections.

Pathways

NLGN4 participates in synapse organization and intracellular signaling pathways critical for neuronal communication and plasticity. It is implicated in the neurexin-neuroligin pathway that regulates synaptic differentiation and adhesion. Within this pathway NLGN4 cooperates closely with other neuroligins and neurexin family members to influence synaptic network formation and plasticity essential for cognitive processes such as learning and memory.

Researchers associate NLGN4 with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) and intellectual disabilities. Mutations in the NLGN4 gene disrupt synapse formation and function which is linked to ASD. NLGN4 interacts with SHANK family proteins such as SHANK3 which is also linked to defects found in autism and related neurological conditions. Understanding these interactions helps in developing targeted therapies for ASD and intellectual disabilities as both NLGN4 and SHANK proteins influence synaptic pathways implicated in these disorders.
