Biological function summary
NRG1 is involved in several cellular activities such as cell growth survival and differentiation. It is not part of a complex but acts directly through its interactions with receptor tyrosine kinases in the ErbB receptor family. NRG1 influences cardiac development and neural function by mediating these cellular processes promoting the development and maintenance of neural and cardiac tissues.

NRG1 is involved in the PI3K-Akt and MAPK/ERK signaling pathways. These pathways are critical for cellular growth differentiation and survival supporting the functions of NRG1 in various tissues.
