Biological function summary
This peptide hormone interacts with several bodily processes mostly related to gastrointestinal functions and energy homeostasis. It does not form part of a larger protein complex but acts independently. Studies suggest it could play roles in reducing food intake and slowing down gastric emptying potentially contrasting the action of Ghrelin which stimulates hunger.
