P2Y14 also known as GPR105 is a G protein-coupled receptor. It has a molecular mass of approximately 40-47 kDa. P2Y14 primarily binds UDP-glucose as its ligand and plays a role in various signaling pathways. Expression of P2Y14 occurs in a variety of tissues including the immune system tissues like spleen as well as in cells such as leukocytes. It shows lower expression levels in other bodily tissues like brain and lungs.
P2Y14 receptor participates in immune responses by modulating the function of various leukocytes. It does not exist as part of large multimeric complexes but interacts with the cellular machinery to influence the behavior of the immune system. Through its interaction with extracellular nucleotides and sugars P2Y14 impacts immune cell chemotaxis and cytokine release which are critical for immune regulation.
P2Y14 receptor plays a significant role in inflammatory signaling pathways and chemotaxis. It interacts with other proteins such as P2Y12 to modulate the activation and recruitment of immune cells. P2Y14 links to key pathways such as those involving GPCR signaling impacting immune cell movement and inflammation processes.
P2Y14 has a connection to asthma and type 2 diabetes. In asthma its role in immune cell recruitment can exacerbate inflammation and contribute to symptoms. In type 2 diabetes P2Y14 influences insulin signaling potentially impacting glucose metabolism. It associates with proteins like P2X7 and P2Y12 which are involved in inflammatory processes and metabolism underlining its role in these conditions.
