Chaperone protein which promotes assembly of the 20S proteasome as part of a heterodimer with PSMG1. The PSMG1-PSMG2 heterodimer binds to the PSMA5 and PSMA7 proteasome subunits, promotes assembly of the proteasome alpha subunits into the heteroheptameric alpha ring and prevents alpha ring dimerization.
Proteasome assembly chaperone 2, PAC-2, Hepatocellular carcinoma-susceptibility protein 3, Tumor necrosis factor superfamily member 5-induced protein 1, TNFSF5IP1, PSMG2, PAC2, HCCA3

ab249729 is the carrier-free version of Anti-PAC-2 antibody [EPR9947(2)] ab172909.
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:
For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. The carrier-free buffer and high concentration allow for increased conjugation efficiency.
This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.
Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

PAC-2 also known as PAC and Anti-PAC is a protein involved in various cellular processes. It appears important in apoptosis and the regulation of cellular proliferation. PAC-2 has an approximate mass of 40 kDa. Researchers have observed its expression in different tissues including the nervous system immune cells and several cancerous tissues. Understanding the mechanical functions of PAC-2 can offer insights into its role in cellular homeostasis and disease pathology.
PAC-2 plays an essential role in apoptosis acting as a mediator of programmed cell death. While not characterized as part of a larger complex PAC-2 interacts with other proteins to regulate cell survival and death. It likely influences the mitochondrial pathway of apoptosis by controlling cytochrome c release which is a critical step in the activation of caspases. These interactions emphasize the protein's adaptive importance in various biological contexts.
PAC-2 commands a significant presence in apoptotic signaling and cellular stress response pathways. It influences the intrinsic (mitochondrial) apoptotic pathway and may interact with proteins such as Bcl-2 family members and caspase-9. This interaction places PAC-2 in an important position where it can modify the balance between cell survival and cell death involving proteins that balance pro-apoptotic and anti-apoptotic signals.
PAC-2 has correlations with cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. Its dysregulation in certain cancers suggests a role in tumor progression and resistance to apoptosis. The connection to Bcl-2 highlights this aspect as both are involved in the suppression of cell death. In neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's altered PAC-2 function might contribute to the pathological accumulation of damaged cells influenced by its effect on apoptotic pathways. Understanding these links could advance therapeutic strategies for related conditions.
