Biological function summary
PFDN2 functions to stabilize unfolding proteins by housing them in its prefoldin complex until they achieve proper conformation. This complex interacts directly with the cytoskeleton to maintain cellular architecture. The prefoldin complex consists of six subunits including PFDN2 that work together to perform this chaperone role effectively.
Pathways
PFDN2 contributes significantly to both the tubulin and actin folding pathways. This involves its interaction with chaperonins including CCT (chaperonin-containing TCP-1) important for the assembly of the cytoskeleton. It's vital in managing protein dynamics thereby influencing cellular activities like motility and division through its collaborative action with these pathways.
