ab281260 is a BSA and Azide Free antibody supplied in an unconjugated format and it is suitable for sandwich ELISAs to quantify Human PLXNB1. The recommended pair for sandwich ELISA is:
Capture: ab281260, Human PLXNB1 Capture Antibody (unconjugated)
Detector: Anti-Plexin B1 antibody [EPR23781-169] - BSA and Azide free (Detector) ab281110, Human PLXNB1 Detector Antibody (unconjugated)
The reference range value is 31.25 - 2000 pg/mL.

Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. The carrier-free buffer and high concentration allow for increased conjugation efficiency.

This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

The recommended antibody orientation is based on internal optimization for ELISA-based assays. Antibody orientation is assay dependent and needs to be optimized for each assay type. Please note that the range provided for this antibody is only an estimation based on the performance of the product using the recommended antibody pair. Performance of the antibody pair will depend on the specific characteristics of your assay. We guarantee the product works in sandwich ELISA, but we do not guarantee the sensitivity or dynamic range of the antibody in your assay.

Activity summary

Plexin-B1 also known as PLXNB1 is a transmembrane receptor with a molecular weight of approximately 230 kDa. It plays an important role in cellular communication by binding semaphorin ligands influencing cell adhesion and migration. Plexin-B1 is widely expressed in various tissues including the nervous system where it impacts neural development. By mediating axonal guidance and cytoskeletal dynamics Plexin-B1 contributes to the signaling processes fundamental to neuronal pathfinding and connection establishment.

Biological function summary

Plexin-B1 associates with multiple proteins to form signaling complexes that regulate cellular processes. Its interaction with small GTPases like RhoA influences actin cytoskeleton organization impacting cell morphology and motility. Plexin-B1 also plays a role in epithelial cell function and survival acting through pathways that restrict or allow cellular proliferation. These interactions facilitate diverse physiological responses including changes in cell shape cellular migration and apoptosis.

Pathways

Plexin-B1 is involved in signaling cascades such as the semaphorin-plexin pathway and the RhoA/Rho kinase (ROCK) pathway. Through these pathways Plexin-B1 interacts with the receptor tyrosine kinase MET influencing cell motility and invasive growth responses. Plexin-B1 links to Rho GTPases modulating actin dynamics and contributing to cell shape alterations and motility in these pathways. These interactions exemplify Plexin-B1's integration within complex signaling networks that control developmental and cellular processes.

Associated diseases and disorders

Plexin-B1 shows associations with cancer progression and neural abnormalities. Altered Plexin-B1 expression or function relates to prostate cancer where it participates with MET in promoting epithelial-mesenchymal transition and tumor metastasis. In the neurological domain Plexin-B1 dysfunction connects with schizophrenia by potentially affecting neural connectivity and synaptic integrity. These insights underline Plexin-B1's involvement with critical proteins in pathological contexts influencing the progression and severity of these conditions.
