Supplementary information

PRHOXNB also known as paired related homeobox protein NB is a cellular protein functioning in transcriptional regulation. It has a molecular mass of approximately 32 kDa. The expression of PRHOXNB occurs predominantly in the central nervous system and some peripheral tissues. It serves an essential role in the transcription regulation by interacting with specific DNA sequences influencing gene expression.
Biological function summary

PRHOXNB influences neuronal differentiation and development. It functions as part of a larger transcriptional complex. PRHOXNB contributes to the determination of cell fate during neural development. By interacting with other transcription factors it modulates the activity of genes involved in neural cell differentiation promoting normal brain development and function.

Pathways

PRHOXNB is involved in the Wnt signaling pathway and neural development pathways. Its interactions within the Wnt signaling pathway help regulate neural patterning and synaptogenesis. PRHOXNB often cooperates with proteins like β-catenin within these pathways contributing to the regulation of target gene expression. These interactions ensure proper neural tissue development and maintenance.

PRHOXNB has been linked to neurodevelopmental disorders and certain types of cancer. Altered expression or mutations in PRHOXNB may contribute to neural developmental issues such as autism spectrum disorders. Additionally its abnormal activity has been observed in certain cancers where it might interact with proteins like p53 impacting cell cycle regulation and leading to tumorigenesis.
