Competitive ELISA - Anti-Progesterone antibody [EPPTX-R1] - Low endotoxin, Azide free (AB222404)
This ELISA data used the same anti-Progesterone antibody clone [EPPTX-R1] in a different buffer formulation (cat# ab215527).
Goat anti-rabbit IgG was coated onto a 96-well plate. Serial dilution of Progesterone (0 10 25 50 100 300 1000 pg/ml) was added (50 μl). This was followed by adding 25 μl HRP-conjugated Progesterone and 3-5 ng/ml of ab215527 (50 μl) into each well. Plates were incubated for 2 hours at room temperature by shaking. After washing 125 μl Tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) substrate was added and incubated for 30 minutes at room temperature for color development. Then 125 ul of stopping solution (acid solution) was dispensed and OD was read at 450 nm on a microplate reader within 10 minutes.

What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:
- - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
- - Improved sensitivity and specificity
- - Long-term security of supply
- - Animal-free batch production
For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.
Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.
Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.
Compatibility
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.
What does low endotoxin mean?
Our low endotoxin, azide-free formats have low endotoxin level (1 EU/mg, determined by the TAL assay) and are free from azide, to achieve consistent experimental results in functional assays.

Biological function summary
Progesterone is essential for preparation and maintenance of pregnancy. It facilitates the transformation of the endometrium to a secretory phase to support embryo implantation. It also modulates immune responses during pregnancy to prevent the maternal immune system from rejecting the fetus. Progesterone and its receptor are not part of a larger protein complex but they do interact with other molecular pathways to exert their actions. Additionally progesterone inhibits the proliferation of mammary gland epithelial cells contributing to breast development and function.
Pathways
Progesterone plays a significant role in the menstrual cycle and pregnancy-related pathways. It works within the ovarian steroidogenesis pathway which includes other hormones like estrogen and luteinizing hormone. This pathway ensures the release and regulation of female sex hormones. Progesterone also interacts with the MAPK signaling pathway which involves proteins such as ERK1/2 affecting cellular processes including cell growth and differentiation.
