Product details

ab249109 is the carrier-free version of ab154801.

Patented technology
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

Compatibility
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

Supplementary information

PRP16 also known as RNA-dependent ATPase PRP16 is an essential component in pre-mRNA splicing. It functions mechanically as an ATP-dependent RNA helicase facilitating conformational changes in the spliceosome. This protein has a molecular mass of approximately 120 kDa. PRP16 expression occurs largely in the nucleus where it participates in RNA processing events.
Biological function summary

PRP16 plays a critical role in the rearrangement of spliceosomal components during the second catalytic step of splicing. It is a part of the spliceosome complex and is necessary for the accurate removal of introns from pre-mRNA. This protein ensures the proper transition of the spliceosome from the C complex to the B* complex therefore influencing mRNA maturation and stability.

Pathways

PRP16 operates within the mRNA processing and splicing pathways. It is closely related to other spliceosomal proteins such as PRP8 and SF3B1 which coordinate to ensure efficient gene expression regulation through precise splicing events. These interconnected pathways highlight PRP16’s indispensable function in gene expression and RNA management.

PRP16 exhibits a connection with genetic conditions involving splicing defects. Mutations or dysregulation of this helicase may relate to cancers or neurodegenerative diseases where splicing errors lead to aberrant protein products. PRP16's interactions with proteins like U2AF may provide additional insights into how its malfunction contributes to disease progression and pathology in such disorders.
