Functions as a scaffold that mediates the ordered assembly of spliceosomal proteins and snRNAs. Required for the assembly of the U4/U6-U5 tri-snRNP complex, a building block of the spliceosome. Functions as a scaffold that positions spliceosomal U2, U5 and U6 snRNAs at splice sites on pre-mRNA substrates, so that splicing can occur. Interacts with both the 5' and the 3' splice site.

    Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence analysis of K-562 (human chronic myelogenous leukemia lymphoblast) cells labeling PRPF8/Prp8 with Purified ab185547 at 1:100 dilution (10 μg/ml). Cells were fixed in 100% Methanol. Cells were counterstained with Alexa Fluor® 594 Anti-alpha Tubulin antibody [DM1A] - Microtubule Marker ab195889 Anti-alpha Tubulin antibody [DM1A] - Microtubule Marker (Alexa Fluor® 594) 1:200 (2.5 μg/ml).
