PTTG1IP is essential in controlling the cell cycle by enabling the proper localization of the PTTG1 protein. By being a part of the larger regulatory network PTTG1IP impacts the balance between cell proliferation and apoptosis. It is not a part of a classical protein complex but interacts directly with its namesake PTTG1 to carry out its functions. This interaction underpins critical cellular processes necessary for tissue growth and repair.
Pathways
PTTG1IP functions in the regulation of the cell cycle and plays a role in the mitotic spindle checkpoint. It interacts closely with proteins such as Cyclin B1 and separase which are central to these pathways.
