RAB11FIP1 also known as Rab11 Family Interacting Protein 1 or pp75 is a protein that plays an important role in membrane trafficking. It acts as an effector molecule for Rab11 a small GTPase involved in the regulation of vesicle recycling. RAB11FIP1 has a mass of about 90 kDa and gets expressed in many tissues including brain liver and kidney. It contains regions critical for its interaction with Rab11 facilitating cargo sorting and transport within the endosomal recycling system.

Biological function summary

RAB11FIP1 is involved in several cellular functions related to endosomal transport and recycling processes. It is part of the recycling endosome complex where it helps in the sorting and delivery of cargo to the plasma membrane. The protein contributes to processes like insulin-stimulated glucose transporter 4 translocation and transferrin receptor recycling indicating its role in important cellular functions.
