Rab24 also known as Ras-related protein Rab-24 is a member of the Rab GTPase family. It participates in intracellular vesicle trafficking by functioning as a molecular switch that cycles between inactive GDP-bound and active GTP-bound states. Rab24 has a molecular weight of approximately 23 kDa. This protein is expressed in various tissues including the brain and testis suggesting it plays diverse roles in these areas.

Biological function summary

The Rab24 protein is essential in autophagy a cellular process that degrades and recycles components. It is known to participate in the formation of autophagic vacuoles a part of the greater autophagy pathway.
