Biological function summary
RPL28 participates in the assembly and function of ribosomes within the cell. It acts as a structural component of the ribosomal large subunit and therefore helps in the synthesis of proteins by translating mRNA. As part of the ribosomal complex RPL28 ensures the proper alignment of rRNA and tRNA during protein assembly. Its function is integral to the ribosome's role in facilitating correct translation steps needed for cellular protein production.
Pathways
RPL28 has important roles in the protein synthesis (translation) and ribosome biogenesis pathways. It interacts with other ribosomal proteins and factors involved in these pathways. RPL28 coordinates with proteins such as RPL5 and RPL11 which are also involved in the assembly of the large ribosomal subunit and ensure effective translation and synthesis of proteins required by the cell.
