Supplementary information

RRP1B also known as Ribosomal RNA Processing 1B is a protein involved in the processing of pre-rRNA. It has a molecular mass of approximately 85 kDa. RRP1B is widely expressed in human tissues including high expression levels in the nucleus of cells. As its name implies RRP1B interacts with components involved in the maturation of rRNA and plays a role in the assembly and modification of the nucleolus.
Biological function summary

RRP1B engages in chromatin remodeling and modulates the expression of genes. It is part of a complex responsible for nucleolar rRNA processing. This protein is not only important for rRNA maturation but also influences the transcriptional regulation of several genes through chromatin reorganization. These activities highlight its involvement in both gene expression regulation and cellular structural organization.

Pathways

RRP1B significantly impacts cellular pathways related to ribosome biogenesis and chromatin modification. In the ribosome biogenesis pathway it collaborates with proteins such as NOP52 and NOP56 to ensure proper rRNA processing and ribosome assembly. Additionally RRP1B interacts within the chromatin-modifying pathway coordinating with proteins like CHD and SW1/SNF complexes to regulate gene expression.

RRP1B has links to cancers including breast cancer. Alterations in RRP1B expression or function can influence cancer progression as it may affect metastasis and chromatin organization. Researchers also study interactions between RRP1B and proteins such as BRCA1 which is involved in DNA repair processes to understand its potential impact on tumor development and progression.

Target data

Positively regulates DNA damage-induced apoptosis by acting as a transcriptional coactivator of proapoptotic target genes of the transcriptional activator E2F1 (PubMed : 20040599). Likely to play a role in ribosome biogenesis by targeting serine/threonine protein phosphatase PP1 to the nucleolus (PubMed : 20926688). Involved in regulation of mRNA splicing (By similarity). Inhibits SIPA1 GTPase activity (By similarity). Involved in regulating expression of extracellular matrix genes (By similarity). Associates with chromatin and may play a role in modulating chromatin structure (PubMed : 19710015).. (Microbial infection) Following influenza A virus (IAV) infection, promotes viral mRNA transcription by facilitating the binding of IAV RNA-directed RNA polymerase to capped mRNA.
