Biological function summary
The interaction of nsp10 with other viral proteins is essential for the virus's lifecycle. Nsp10 forms a complex with nsp14 a proofreading exonuclease and nsp16 a 2'-O-methyltransferase. This complex ensures the integrity and stability of viral RNA by capping and proofreading protecting it from host immune detection. By forming this complex nsp10 supports the efficient replication and transcription of viral RNA an important process for SARS-CoV-2 infection and propagation in the host.
Pathways
Nsp10 participates in viral replication and host immune evasion strategies. It is integral to the RNA capping and modification pathways ensuring that SARS-CoV-2 RNA is efficiently transcribed and translated. This protein interacts particularly with nsp14 and nsp16 aiding in the proper assembly of the replication-transcription complex. These interactions allow the virus to maintain its genomic fidelity and to avoid the immune response important for successful infection.
