The SARS-CoV-2 ORF7b protein also referred to as Open Reading Frame 7b is a protein encoded by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It has an approximate mass of 14 kilodaltons and is expressed within the infected host cells. The ORF7b protein is expressed in the cytoplasm and is known to influence the replication or assembly of the virus. Researchers continue to study its precise role in the viral life cycle but it is understood to be integral to the virus's ability to proliferate effectively in host cells.
Biological function summary

The function and impact of the ORF7b protein is of significant interest. It does not appear to participate in a specific multi-protein complex but might interact transiently with other viral or host proteins to promote viral propagation.
