For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. The carrier-free buffer and high concentration allow for increased conjugation efficiency.
This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.
Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.
The SARS-CoV-2 ORF7b protein also referred to as Open Reading Frame 7b is a protein encoded by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It has an approximate mass of 14 kilodaltons and is expressed within the infected host cells. The ORF7b protein is expressed in the cytoplasm and is known to influence the replication or assembly of the virus. Researchers continue to study its precise role in the viral life cycle but it is understood to be integral to the virus's ability to proliferate effectively in host cells.
The function and impact of the ORF7b protein is of significant interest. It does not appear to participate in a specific multi-protein complex but might interact transiently with other viral or host proteins to promote viral propagation. Its expression can influence the host cell's metabolic environment potentially modulating immune responses to favor viral survival and evade host defenses. This protein while small is regarded as a contributing factor to the host-cell interaction dynamics during viral infection.
ORF7b protein is involved in manipulating host cell pathways to facilitate continued viral replication and assembly. Although direct interactions within major pathways are not well-defined ORF7b likely interacts with cellular immune signaling pathways which can alter the balance of immune responses. This protein may have indirect relationships with other viral proteins such as ORF7a impacting the virus's pathogenic profile and immune evasion strategies.
Studies suggest the ORF7b protein may be linked to the severity of COVID-19. Its activity could be contributing to lung tissue inflammation seen in severe cases of the disease potentially through interactions with host proteins involved in inflammatory responses. It may also have indirect implications in disease progression noting the general harm SARS-CoV-2 inflicts on lung tissue and possibly other organs. Understanding ORF7b's role could enhance insights into the mechanisms underlying COVID-19 pathology and inform therapeutic approaches targeting viral or immune regulatory processes.
