Sec14l3 also known as TAP2 or Sec14-like protein 3 is a member of the sec14 lipid transfer protein family. It has a molecular mass of approximately 45 kDa. Sec14l3 is expressed in various tissues including the brain suggesting its importance in neural functions. Mechanically Sec14l3 plays a role in lipid binding and transfer assisting in the regulation of phospholipid metabolism important for cellular homeostasis.
This protein interacts with phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidylcholine contributing to lipid signaling and transport. Sec14l3 is part of a larger complex involved in lipid metabolism influencing various cellular functions by controlling lipid levels within the cell. It modulates membrane trafficking impacting neuron transmission and signaling pathways that direct cellular responses and development.
Significant functions of Sec14l3 occur within phosphoinositide signaling and the vesicular transport pathway. It relates to essential proteins in these pathways such as PI3K and small GTPases which govern cell growth survival and intracellular trafficking processes.
