Secretogranin 3 also known as SCG3 is a protein involved in the secretory pathway within cells. This protein belongs to the granin family weighing approximately 51 kDa. It is most commonly expressed in neuroendocrine cells and secretory granules throughout the body. Secretogranin 3 stores and transports peptide hormones and neuropeptides before their release into the extracellular space. As a secretory granule component it plays a role in the packaging and traffic of hormones and neuropeptides.
