Competitive ELISA - Anti-Serotonin antibody [EPR24431-201] - BSA and Azide free (AB317525)
1 ug/mL Serotonin-crosslink-BSA was coated onto 96-wells. Serial dilution of free Serotonin (0, 19.53125, 39.0625, 78.125, 156.25, 312.5, 625, 1250, 2500, 5000 ng/mL) was added (50 uL). This was followed by adding 50 ng/mL biotin-labeled ab317525 (50 uL) into each well. The plate was incubated for 30 mins. After washing, 1 : 20000 diluted SA-HRP was added and incubated for 30 mins. After washing, 100 uL of TMB was added and incubated for 5-10 mins without shaking for color development. Then 100 uL of stop solution (4.9% Orthophosphoric acid) was dispensed and OD was read at 450nm on a microplate reader within 5-10 mins.

Product details
ab317525 is a BSA and Azide Free antibody supplied in an unconjugated format and it is suitable for competitive ELISAs to quantify Serotonin.
The reference range value is 19.53-5000 ug/ml.
Please note that the range provided for this antibody is only an estimation. Performance of the antibody depends on the specific characteristics of your assay. We guarantee the product works in competitive ELISA, but we do not guarantee the sensitivity or dynamic range of the antibody in your assay.
Our carrier-free formats are supplied in a buffer free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol for higher conjugation efficiency. The antibodies are provided at an approximate concentration of 1 mg/ml as measured by the protein A280 method. Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with <1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.
Sandwich ELISA
The recommended antibody orientation is based on internal optimization for ELISA-based assays. Antibody orientation is assay dependent and needs to be optimized for each assay type. Please note that the range provided for this antibody is only an estimation based on the performance of the product using the recommended antibody pair. Performance of the antibody pair will depend on the specific characteristics of your assay. We guarantee the product works in sandwich ELISA, but we do not guarantee the sensitivity or dynamic range of the antibody in your assay.
Patented technology
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.
What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:
- - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
- - Improved sensitivity and specificity
- - Long-term security of supply
- - Animal-free batch production
For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.
Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.
Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

Biological function summary
Serotonin regulates multiple bodily functions beyond mood such as appetite sleep and circadian rhythm. It forms part of a complex system interacting with various receptor subtypes which include the anti-serotonergic pathways inhibiting its action. Each receptor subtype leads to different downstream effects in cells contributing to the diversity of serotonin's biological roles. For research purposes scientists often use an ELISA kit to measure serotonin levels and this can influence the ELISA test cost based on the specificity and sensitivity required.
Pathways
Serotonin participates in both the serotonergic and dopaminergic pathways illustrating its central role in neurotransmission. The serotonergic pathway is essential for transmitting nerve impulses while its interaction with the dopaminergic system significantly affects mood and reward-related behaviors. Key proteins such as tryptophan hydroxylase for serotonin synthesis and the vesicular monoamine transporter are involved within these pathways and may alter serotonin's functional availability.
