SH2D3A also known as NSP3 or CHAT is an adaptor protein that contains an SH2 domain and other structural motifs that facilitate signal transduction. It weighs approximately 65 kDa and is expressed across various tissues including lymphoid tissues and the brain. SH2D3A plays a role in cell signaling by acting as a bridge between receptors and downstream signaling molecules allowing for the modulation of multiple intracellular pathways.
SH2D3A facilitates important cellular functions such as cytoskeletal reorganization and cell migration. The protein interacts with other signaling proteins and is part of larger complexes involved in cellular movement and structural organization. These interactions are critical for maintaining cellular integrity and function particularly in immune and nervous system tissues.
SH2D3A acts within the integrin signaling and PI3K-AKT pathways. It interacts with molecules like GRB2 and IRS1 which are important for transmitting signals that control cell growth and survival. These pathways allow SH2D3A to influence diverse cellular processes including cell adhesion and metabolic regulation by modulating the activity of related proteins.
SH2D3A has associations with cancer and autoimmune disorders.
