Biological function summary
SIGLEC15 plays roles in modulating the immune system and bone remodeling processes. It is not usually part of a larger complex but primarily acts as a cell surface receptor. SIGLEC15 helps regulate osteoclast differentiation and activity which are important for maintaining bone homeostasis. It modulates immune responses by interacting with other immune cells which can dampen or activate immune signaling pathways based on the cellular context.
Pathways
SIGLEC15 influences both immune signaling and bone metabolism pathways. It is involved in the RANKL-mediated osteoclastogenesis pathway which is critical for the formation and activation of osteoclasts. Within these pathways SIGLEC15 can relate to other proteins like RANK and RANKL that are essential in osteoclast development and function. Through its expression and interactions SIGLEC15 plays key roles in the regulation of immune and skeletal systems.
