Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections) - Anti-SLC22A23 antibody (AB235004)
Paraffin-embedded human small intestine tissue stained for SLC22A23 using ab235004 at 1/200 dilution in immunohistochemical analysis.
After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. Staining was performed on a Leica BondTM system. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized tissue using an HRP conjugated SP system.

Biological function summary
SLC22A23 impacts cellular homeostasis and detoxification processes by managing the cellular intake and expulsion of endogenous and exogenous molecules. Currently there is limited evidence that it forms part of a larger protein complex; however its solute transport function highlights its role in maintaining cellular balance and protecting cells from harmful compounds. It supports essential biological processes by interfacing with other transport proteins within the cell.
Pathways
SLC22A23 participates in the organic cation transport pathway which is essential for xenobiotic metabolism. This pathway includes key interactions with other transporters such as SLC22A1 and SLC22A2 which similarly manage the movement of organic cations. Another pathway that involves SLC22A23 is related to drug metabolism wherein it assists in mediating the clearance of pharmaceutical compounds.
