Western blot - Anti-Slc32a1 antibody [L118/80] - Chicken IgY (Chimeric) (AB325660)

Western blotting of mock transfected and VGAT-FLAG transfected COS-7 lysates with an anti-VGAT mouse mAb and ab325660 (5 µg/mL). The mouse mAb and ab325660 were detected with anti-mouse-HRP and anti-chicken-HRP, respectively. The antibody recognizes exogenous VGAT with similar sensitivity as the anti-VGAT mouse Mab only in VGAT-FLAG transfected COS-7 lysates at 57 kDa. VGAT is an alternative name for Slc32a1.

This recombinant antibody is a chimeric antibody created by replacing the mouse heavy and light constant regions of clone L118/80 with chicken IgY heavy and light constant regions. As such this antibody retains the same binding performance as the original clone L118/80 but can be detected using standard anti-chicken secondary antibodies allowing flexibility for multiplexing applications. This antibody is expressed recombinantly in mammalian cells and then affinity purified from the cell culture media.

Target data

Antiporter that exchanges vesicular protons for cytosolic 4-aminobutanoate or to a lesser extend glycine, thus allowing their secretion from nerve terminals (By similarity) (PubMed : 9349821). The transport is equally dependent on the chemical and electrical components of the proton gradient (PubMed : 9349821). May also transport beta-alanine (PubMed : 23919636). Acidification of GABAergic synaptic vesicles is a prerequisite for 4-aminobutanoate uptake (By similarity).
