Confocal image showing positive staining in mouse primary neural/glia cell. Confocal scanning Z step was set as 0.3 µM followed by image processing with maximum Z projection. Image was taken with a confocal microscope(Leica-Microsystems, TCS SP8). ab11267 Anti-MAP2 mouse monoclonal antibody was used to counterstain tubulin at 1/500 dilution, follwed by ab150120 Goat Anti-Mouse IgG H&L (Alexa Fluor® 594) at a 1/1000 dilution (Red). Antiporter that exchanges vesicular protons for cytosolic 4-aminobutanoate or to a lesser extend glycine, thus allowing their secretion from nerve terminals (PubMed : 16701208, PubMed : 26912364, PubMed : 27601664, PubMed : 9395291). The transport is equally dependent on the chemical and electrical components of the proton gradient (PubMed : 27601664, PubMed : 9395291). May also transport beta-alanine (By similarity). Acidification of GABAergic synaptic vesicles is a prerequisite for 4-aminobutanoate uptake (PubMed : 27601664).
