Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence - Anti-STARD4 antibody [EPR17847-32] - BSA and Azide free (AB251360)
This data was developed using ab202060, the same antibody clone in a different buffer formulation.
Immunofluorescent analysis of 4% paraformaldehyde-fixed, 0.1% Triton X-100 permeabilized SH-SY5Y (Human neuroblastoma from bone marrow cells) cells labeling STRAD4 with ab202060 at 1/1000 dilution, followed by Goat anti-rabbit IgG (Alexa Fluor® 488) (ab150077) secondary antibody at 1/500 dilution (green). Immunoprecipitation - Anti-STARD4 antibody [EPR17847-32] - BSA and Azide free (AB251360)
This data was developed using ab202060, the same antibody clone in a different buffer formulation.
STARD4 was immunoprecipitated from 1mg of NIH/3T3 (Mouse embyro fibroblast cells) whole cell lysate with ab202060 at 1/50 dilution. Western blot was performed from the immunoprecipitate using ab202060 at 1/1000 dilution. Anti-Rabbit IgG (HRP), specific to the non-reduced form of IgG, was used as secondary antibody at 1/1500 dilution.
Lane 1 : NIH/3T3 whole cell lysate 10 μg (Input). Lane 2 : ab202060 IP in NIH/3T3 whole cell lysate Lane 3 : Rabbit monoclonal IgG (ab172730) instead of ab202060 in NIH/3T3 whole cell lysate.
Blocking and dilution buffer and concentration : 5% NFDM/TBST.

Product details
ab251360 is the carrier-free version of ab202060.
Patented technology
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.
What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:
- - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
- - Improved sensitivity and specificity
- - Long-term security of supply
- - Animal-free batch production
For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.
Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.
Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.
Compatibility
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

Biological function summary
This protein participates in intracellular lipid trafficking as part of larger biosynthetic and regulatory processes. It does not function independently but rather interacts with several lipid-binding proteins to control cholesterol availability within the cell. These interactions are essential for maintaining membrane integrity and the synthesis of steroid hormones. The activity of STARD4 directly influences the regulation of lipid metabolism and energy homeostasis.
Pathways
STARD4 contributes to lipid metabolism and homeostasis pathways. It plays a role in the cholesterol transport pathway specifically in concert with proteins like STARD1 and STARD5 which also bind and transfer cholesterol. Its function ensures proper cholesterol distribution required for cellular signaling and membrane structure. The activity of STARD4 intersects with other proteins involved in these pathways such as apolipoproteins and other lipid-binding proteins to maintain lipid balance within tissues particularly in organs like the liver.
