Does not function as a metalloreductase due to the absence of binding sites for the electron-donating substrate NADPH. Promotes Fe(3+) reduction when fused to the NADPH-binding domain of STEAP4.

Rabbit Monoclonal STEAP1 antibody. Carrier free. Suitable for WB, ICC/IF and reacts with Human samples.
pH: 7.2 - 7.4
Constituents: 100% PBS
This antibody recognizes overexpressed human STEAP1B isoform 1 and isoform 2 (#Q6NZ63). The antibody may also recognise endogenous STEAP1B isoforms.
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:
For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. The carrier-free buffer and high concentration allow for increased conjugation efficiency.
This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.
Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.
STEAP1 also known as Six Transmembrane Epithelial Antigen of the Prostate 1 is a plasma membrane protein with a molecular weight around 50 kDa. This protein is expressed primarily in prostate tissues but also in a variety of other epithelial tissues. It plays a mechanical role as a metalloreductase facilitating the reduction of metal ions such as iron and copper across the cell membrane. STEAP1 features a characteristic six transmembrane domain which is important for its activity and localization.
STEAP1 impacts cellular processes connected to metal ion homeostasis and proliferation. By performing as a metalloreductase it modulates the redox state and availability of metal ions within cells. STEAP1 functions as part of a larger complex interacting with other transmembrane proteins in the regulation of ion transport and reduction reactions. These roles are significant in maintaining cellular metabolism and oxidative balance.
STEAP1 is actively involved in pathways related to iron and copper metabolism. It links to the iron uptake and transport pathways ensuring proper cellular iron levels are maintained. STEAP1 also shares functional relationships with proteins such as ferritin which stores iron and transferrin which transports iron in the bloodstream. STEAP1 therefore plays an important part in connecting cellular metabolism to systemic metal homeostasis.
STEAP1 has notable associations with prostate cancer and Ewing's sarcoma. Elevated expression of STEAP1 often correlates with the progression of prostate cancer hinting at a potential role in tumor growth and survival. In Ewing's sarcoma STEAP1 engages in molecular mechanisms related to the disease's pathology. Interaction with proteins such as PCA3 a prostate cancer antigen underlines its involvement in carcinogenic processes and highlights its potential as a therapeutic target in oncology.
