Synaptopodin 2 also known as Myopodin is an actin-binding protein approximately 125 kDa in mass. This protein exists in various skeletal muscle tissues especially where muscle development and repair occur. Synaptopodin 2 plays a mechanical role by participating in actin filament dynamics affecting cellular structure and movement. It exists in muscle cells and is important for stress fiber formation contributing to the structural integrity of muscle fibers.

At the sarcomeric Z lines is proposed to act as adapter protein that links nascent myofibers to the sarcolemma via ZYX and may play a role in early assembly and stabilization of the Z lines. Involved in autophagosome formation.
