Biological function summary
TAF4B has significant roles in regulating gene expression. It forms part of the multi-subunit TFIID complex. Through this association TAF4B is involved in the transcription of genes required for cell cycle progression and development. Its expression levels and regulation affect cellular differentiation and growth making it essential for normal cellular functions especially in reproductive tissues.
Pathways
TAF4B participates in key biological processes such as the RNA polymerase II pre-initiation complex formation. It interacts with other TAFs (TBP-associated factors) and transcriptional activators that modulate gene expression in response to cellular signals. In particular the estrogen signaling pathway has a link with TAF4B influencing gene transcription in reproductive tissues. This protein works closely with other components of the TFIID complex to ensure accurate transcriptional regulation.
