Component of the ribosome quality control complex (RQC), a ribosome-associated complex that mediates ubiquitination and extraction of incompletely synthesized nascent chains for proteasomal degradation (PubMed:30244831). In the RQC complex, required to promote formation of 'Lys-48'-linked polyubiquitin chains during ubiquitination of incompletely synthesized proteins by LTN1 (PubMed:30244831). Also acts as a transcriptional repressor: represses transcription of SRF in vitro and so may play a role in heart development (PubMed:16574069). May play a role in cell death control (By similarity).

TCF-25 also known as Transcription Factor 25 plays an important role in gene expression by regulating transcription processes. Its protein mass is approximately 25 kDa. TCF-25 is expressed broadly across several tissues with particular prominence in the brain and heart. This expression pattern suggests its involvement in critical cellular processes in these organ systems.
TCF-25 modulates expression of genes involved in development and differentiation. It functions as a part of a complex with other transcription factors to regulate target genes. This complex interaction enhances its ability to control biological processes maintaining cellular homeostasis and supporting the progression of various developmental stages.
Studies show TCF-25 plays an influential role in both Wnt and Notch signaling pathways. These pathways are important for cell fate determination and tissue development. Within these pathways TCF-25 interacts with proteins such as beta-catenin in the Wnt signaling pathway and works alongside Notch receptors in the Notch signaling pathway illustrating its integration into these significant cellular signaling networks.
Research finds TCF-25 linked to cardiovascular diseases and neuronal development disorders. Abnormalities in TCF-25 expression or function contribute to pathogenesis in conditions like congenital heart defects where its partnership with proteins like GATA4 and NKX2-5 is essential. Additionally misregulation of TCF-25 can impact neural processes potentially leading to neurological disorders through its interactions with other transcription factors.

Z- and S- Score: The Z-score represents the strength of a signal that a monoclonal antibody (MAb) (in combination with a fluorescently-tagged anti-IgG secondary antibody) produces when binding to a particular protein on the HuProtTM array. Z-scores are described in units of standard deviations (SD's) above the mean value of all signals generated on that array. If targets on HuProtTM are arranged in descending order of the Z-score, the S-score is the difference (also in units of SD's) between the Z-score. S-score therefore represents the relative target specificity of a MAb to its intended target. A MAb is considered to specific to its intended target, if the MAb has an S-score of at least 2.5. For example, if a MAb binds to protein X with a Z-score of 43 and to protein Y with a Z-score of 14, then the S-score for the binding of that MAb to protein X is equal to 29.
