Biological function summary
Trehalose-6-phosphate phosphatase contributes significantly to cellular energy management and stress responses. In many organisms it forms part of a larger complex involved in carbohydrate metabolism. It directly impacts trehalose production which helps protect cells under osmotic and oxidative stress conditions. Through its enzymatic action TDH ensures adequate trehalose availability maintaining cellular homeostasis.
Pathways
TDH plays an integral role in the carbohydrate metabolism and stress response pathways. It associates with proteins such as trehalose synthase in the trehalose biosynthesis pathway influencing glucose metabolism. Additionally through interactions in the stress response pathway TDH can modulate the activity of proteins coordinating cellular survival under adverse conditions.
