We have systematically measured KD (the equilibrium dissociation constant between the antibody and its antigen), of more than 840 recombinant antibodies to assess not only their individual KD values but also to see the average affinity of antibody. Based on the comparison with published literature values for mouse monoclonal antibodies, Recombinant antibodies appear to be on average 1-2 order of magnitude higher affinity.

Product details

ab248410 is the carrier-free version of ab131331.

Patented technology
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

Compatibility
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

Supplementary information

Transketolase-like 2 (TKTL2) also known as TKL2 is an enzyme involved in carbohydrate metabolism. Its molecular weight is approximately 70 kDa. TKTL2 expression occurs broadly in human tissues with reported high expression levels in the heart brain and liver. The enzyme plays an important role in the non-oxidative part of the pentose phosphate pathway where it influences the interconversion of sugar phosphates.
Biological function summary

TKTL2 contributes to cellular processes related to energy metabolism and biosynthesis. It forms a functional relationship with other proteins in metabolic pathways participating in the regulation of cellular redox balance and nucleotide biosynthesis. This enzyme supports cellular functions by contributing to the generation of ribose-5-phosphate a precursor for nucleotide synthesis and NADPH essential for anabolic reactions and antioxidative defenses.

Pathways

TKTL2 significantly participates in the pentose phosphate pathway and is implicated in glycolysis connecting to numerous other enzymes like glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase. Its activity affects the levels of critical metabolites within these pathways thereby influencing cell survival and proliferation. The interaction of TKTL2 with these pathways highlights its role in regulating cellular metabolic flux impacting processes such as ribonucleotide synthesis and redox homeostasis.

TKTL2 has been associated with cancer particularly in tumor progression and metastasis. Aberrant expression of TKTL2 correlates with altered metabolic states within cancer cells linking it to enhanced tumor growth. It is also suggested that TKTL2 might relate to neurodegenerative conditions where its expression aligns with neuronal metabolic demands and oxidative stress resistance. Research also connects TKTL2 with proteins like lactate dehydrogenase in the context of cancer metabolism illustrating the enzyme's relevance in disease states.

Target data

Plays an essential role in total transketolase activity and cell proliferation in cancer cells; after transfection with anti-TKTL1 siRNA, total transketolase activity dramatically decreases and proliferation was significantly inhibited in cancer cells. Plays a pivotal role in carcinogenesis.
