Supplementary information

TMEM91 also known as Transmembrane Protein 91 acts as an integral membrane protein with a proposed role in cellular transport processes. Its mass is approximately 31 kDa. It shows high expression in several tissues including the lung liver and kidney indicating its potential significance in these areas. TMEM91 contains several transmembrane domains that suggest involvement in the transport or signaling functions.
Biological function summary

This protein contributes to intracellular transport and cellular signaling processes. TMEM91 does not currently have a confirmed association with any multi-protein complexes. However it interacts with cellular membranes influencing various transport activities through the lipid bilayer. The structure supports diverse cellular roles adapting to specific tissue demands where high expression occurs.

Pathways

TMEM91 participates actively in intracellular signaling pathways and cellular homeostasis. The mTOR signaling pathway utilizes TMEM91 to regulate cellular metabolism and growth. In addition TMEM91 interacts with MAPK proteins which play a role in proliferation differentiation and stress response signaling pathways. These interactions place TMEM91 at an operational junction where cellular growth and adaptive responses converge.

Research connects TMEM91 to metabolic diseases and certain pulmonary conditions. Abnormalities in TMEM91 expression or function have been associated with metabolic syndrome highlighting its involvement in metabolic regulation. Dysregulation of this protein can also relate to respiratory disorders possibly impacting pathways involving typical partners like mTOR and MAPK leading to pathological states in the lung.
