Biological function summary
TRAPPC6B is involved in regulating intracellular trafficking particularly in the early steps of the secretory pathway. As part of the TRAPP complex it contributes to the tethering of COPII vesicles to Golgi membranes facilitating transport between the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus. This action helps maintain cellular homeostasis and proper distribution of proteins and lipids within cells.
Pathways
TRAPPC6B is significant in the ER-Golgi transport pathway where it interacts with other subunits of the TRAPP complex including TRAPPC2 and TRAPPC3. These interactions are important for the assembly and function of the TRAPP complex in vesicle tethering. TRAPPC6B also plays a role in the macroautophagy pathway affecting the biogenesis of autophagosomes which are essential for cellular degradation and recycling processes.
