Supplementary information

This supplementary information is collated from multiple sources and compiled automatically.

TRIM49 also known as Tripartite Motif Containing 49 is a member of the TRIM protein family. It functions mechanically as an E3 ubiquitin ligase facilitating ubiquitination processes. TRIM49 has a molecular mass of approximately 55 kDa. This protein is expressed mainly in the testis indicating its significance in reproductive biology.
Biological function summary

TRIM49 plays a role in protein modification and turnover by marking specific substrates for degradation via the ubiquitin-proteasome system. It is not currently known to be part of a larger protein complex but its activity influences cellular regulation and protein homeostasis.

Pathways

Studies suggest that TRIM49 engages in the regulation of immune response and cell cycle control pathways. It interacts with proteins involved in these pathways including IFN-signaling pathways where it has potential effects on proteins like STAT1 modulating cellular responses to cytokines.

TRIM49's function connects it to testicular cancers and other reproductive disorders. Variations in TRIM49 expression or function may associate with abnormal testicular cell proliferation. Interaction with proteins like p53 an important tumor suppressor highlights its link to mechanisms of cancer development.
