Supplementary information

The protein Testis Specific 10 known as TSGA10 has an important role in cellular functions related to spermatogenesis. TSGA10 has a molecular weight of approximately 82 kDa. Expression of TSGA10 occurs mainly in the testis but it is also detected at lower levels in other tissues like the brain and some cancerous tissues. These expression patterns suggest a distinctive role for TSGA10 in reproductive biology.
Biological function summary

TSGA10 plays a role in the formation of spermatozoa. It localizes to the centrosome and is important for proper development of the flagella which is essential for sperm motility. TSGA10 forms part of a larger protein complex involved in the maturation and stabilization of microtubules necessary for cell division and motility. Microtubule-associated protein RP/EB family member 1 (MAPRE1) often interacts with TSGA10 to support these cellular functions.

Pathways

TSGA10 plays a part in pathways critical to reproductive cell development. It participates in the flagellar assembly pathway essential for the generation of functional sperm. TSGA10 interacts with proteins like kinesins which are motor proteins that move along microtubules. These interactions help support the mechanical action required for cellular movement and division within the reproductive system.

TSGA10 has been implicated in certain reproductive and cancer-related conditions. Abnormal expression of TSGA10 links to infertility issues often due to impaired sperm motility or structure. Furthermore TSGA10 shows higher expression levels in some cancers such as liver cancer suggesting a possible role in tumor progression. In these cancer contexts TSGA10 interacts with proteins like heat shock proteins (HSPs) which may aid in cancer cell survival and proliferation.
