Supplementary information

TSGA2 also known as testis-specific gene antigen 2 is a protein encoded by the TSGA2 gene. Its molecular mass is approximately 67 kDa. TSGA2 shows high expression in testicular tissues indicating a role related to reproductive biology. It is less often found in other tissues under normal conditions which suggests a specialized function in male germ cells.
Biological function summary

TSGA2 plays a role in the organization of cellular structures during spermatogenesis. This protein participates in the formation of sperm-specific elements. TSGA2 potentially interacts with components of the cytoskeleton facilitating the organized shape and function of mature sperm.

Pathways

TSGA2 integrates within the spermatogenesis process. The protein contributes to the structure and motility development of spermatozoa associating with proteins involved in microtubule dynamics such as tubulins. It functions alongside dynein and kinesin which are motor proteins critical for movement within cells ensuring sperm development happens correctly.

TSGA2 has connections to infertility specifically that which affects spermatogenesis. Abnormal expression or mutations in TSGA2 can disrupt normal sperm development leading to reduced fertility in males. Some studies suggest links with proteins like DAZL another important player in germ cell regulation appealing as a potential area for exploring diagnostic and therapeutic avenues in male infertility.
