Product details

ab249386 is the carrier-free version of ab166905.

Patented technology
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

Compatibility
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

Supplementary information

TTC14 also known as tetratricopeptide repeat domain 14 is a protein with a molecular mass around 68 kDa. This protein plays an important mechanical role in cilia function by possessing tetratricopeptide repeat domains that facilitate protein-protein interactions necessary for its activity. TTC14 shows expression predominantly within tissues that require motile cilia like respiratory epithelium and reproductive tracts.
Biological function summary

TTC14 is involved in the functioning and maintenance of ciliary structures essential for cellular motility and fluid movement across various surfaces. TTC14 acts as a part of the ciliary transition zone a critical component that regulates ciliary protein import and function. This involvement implies a significant role in modifying the composition of ciliary membrane essential for its sensing and motility purposes.

Pathways

Researchers place TTC14 within ciliary assembly and maintenance pathways which involve coordination and transport mechanisms that ensure proper cilium structure and function. It also associates with the intraflagellar transport system working alongside proteins like IFT88 and IFT20 to sustain ciliary activities. Such participation indicates TTC14’s importance in maintaining ciliary integrity and function.

Malfunction or mutations in TTC14 can lead to conditions associated with ciliary dysfunction like Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) and infertility due to impaired sperm motility. TTC14 shows interaction with other key ciliary-related proteins such as DNAH5 where abnormalities typically result in overlapping ciliary disorders. Consequently studying TTC14 contributes to understanding the molecular mechanisms underpinning these diseases.
