The Tubulin Delta 1 (TUBD1) protein also known as C20orf23 is involved in microtubule dynamics as part of the tubulin superfamily. TUBD1 has a molecular mass of approximately 53 kDa. It is expressed in various tissues throughout the body with a notable presence in the brain and skeletal muscle. It contributes to the assembly of microtubules by incorporating into the tubulin heterodimers which are the basic building blocks necessary for microtubule formation.
Biological function summary

The protein plays a fundamental role in mitotic spindle formation and chromosome segregation during cellular division. TUBD1 acts as a component of the multiprotein complexes that interact with other microtubules to ensure stability and proper organization within the cell.
