Biological function summary
UBFD1 engages in cellular homeostasis by influencing protein turnover and signaling pathways. It is not known as part of a traditional protein complex but it interacts with several ubiquitin-associated proteins. UBFD1 regulates the stability of proteins by mediating their ubiquitination status which affects the cell cycle DNA repair and response to stress conditions. Its role is important for maintaining normal cellular function and preventing the accumulation of damaged proteins.
Pathways
UBFD1 influences many cellular processes notably the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway and the DNA damage response pathway. It works closely with proteins such as ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes and substrate-specific ubiquitin ligases. These pathways are integral to maintaining protein homeostasis and ensuring proper cellular responses to damage and stress. By modulating these pathways UBFD1 ensures effective protein management and repair mechanisms within the cell.
