Use1 also known as UNS-1 or Protein Transport Protein Use1 is involved in the SNARE-mediated transport mechanism. It has a molecular mass of approximately 29 kDa. This protein is expressed in various tissues with significant presence in the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus. Structurally Use1 interacts with other SNARE proteins to regulate vesicle fusion processes essential for intracellular transport.
Use1 plays an important role in the delivery and sorting of proteins within cells. It functions as a part of the SNARE complex which is important for the fusion of vesicles with target membranes. By ensuring the precise docking and release of vesicles this protein aids in maintaining proper cellular function. The SNARE complex including partners like Syntaxin 18 and BNIP1 ensures coordinated intracellular trafficking which is vital for cellular homeostasis.
Use1 is deeply involved in the vesicular transport and cellular trafficking pathways. These pathways are essential for the movement of proteins and lipids between different organelles. Use1 works closely with the Golgi and endoplasmic reticulum trafficking pathways. It interacts with proteins such as Sec22b and Syntaxin 18 to facilitate vesicular transport processes. This activity ensures correct delivery of molecular cargos aiding in cellular function regulation and signal transduction.
Mutations or dysfunction of Use1 have been associated with neurodegenerative diseases and certain metabolic disorders. Use1 was immunoprecipitated from 0.5 mg PC-3 (human prostate adenocarcinoma cell line) whole cell lysate using ab234867 at 1/200 dilution.
Lane 1: Control IgG IP in PC-3 whole cell lysate.
