VEZT also known as vezatin is a membrane-associated molecule that plays significant mechanical roles within cells. It has an approximate mass of 85 kDa. VEZT is widely expressed in various tissues with notably high expression in epithelial tissues. The protein primarily localizes at adherens junctions where it interacts with the cell cytoskeleton contributing to cellular stability and organization.
This protein facilitates cell adhesion and signaling. VEZT forms part of a complex with myosin VIIA which helps in linking cell surface receptors to the actin cytoskeleton. This interaction maintains the structural integrity of tissues and supports cellular processes such as migration and morphogenesis.
