Immunocytochemistry - Anti-VSV-G tag antibody [P5D4] (AB50549)

COS7 cells over-expressing VSV-G tagged vinculin were fixed and permeabilized with 4% paraformaldehyde followed by 0.5% Triton X-100. Fixed cells were stained with 5 μg/ml ab50549. The antibody was developed using Goat Anti-Mouse IgG, Cy3 conjugate. Cells were counterstained with DAPI (blue) to stain nuclei.

Target data

Attaches the virus to host cellular receptor, inducing clathrin-dependent endocytosis of the virion. In the endosome, the acidic pH induces conformational changes in the glycoprotein trimer, which trigger fusion between virus and endosomal membrane. In neurons, neo-synthesized glycoproteins are sorted to the dendrites, where the virus buds.
