Downstream regulator in the Wnt/Frizzled-signaling pathway. Associated with cell survival. Attenuates p53-mediated apoptosis in response to DNA damage through activation of AKT kinase. Up-regulates the anti-apoptotic Bcl-X(L) protein. Adheres to skin and melanoma fibroblasts. In vitro binding to skin fibroblasts occurs through the proteoglycans, decorin and biglycan.

ab280990 is a BSA and Azide Free antibody supplied in an unconjugated format and it is suitable for sandwich ELISAs to quantify Human WISP-1 (CCN4). The recommended pair for sandwich ELISA is:
Capture: Anti-WISP1 antibody [EPR22891-92] - BSA and Azide free (Capture) ab281140, Human WISP-1 (CCN4) Capture Antibody (unconjugated)
Detector: ab280990, Human WISP-1 (CCN4) Detector Antibody (unconjugated)
The reference range value is 78.13-5000 pg/mL.
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:
For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. The carrier-free buffer and high concentration allow for increased conjugation efficiency.
This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.
Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.
The recommended antibody orientation is based on internal optimization for ELISA-based assays. Antibody orientation is assay dependent and needs to be optimized for each assay type. Please note that the range provided for this antibody is only an estimation based on the performance of the product using the recommended antibody pair. Performance of the antibody pair will depend on the specific characteristics of your assay. We guarantee the product works in sandwich ELISA, but we do not guarantee the sensitivity or dynamic range of the antibody in your assay.
WISP-1 also known as CCN4 is a protein closely associated with cell signaling and extracellular matrix interactions. It is a member of the CCN family of proteins with a molecular mass of approximately 40 kDa. This protein is expressed in various tissues including bone skin and adipose tissue. WISP-1 does not act alone but interacts with integrins and other extracellular matrix proteins influencing cellular communication and tissue homeostasis.
WISP-1 influences cell proliferation migration and differentiation. It plays a role in the regulation of the skeletal system and is involved in maintaining the balance of bone formation and resorption. WISP-1 can form part of protein complexes that affect the adhesion of cells and modulate cellular responses to growth factors. These interactions underline WISP-1's involvement in promoting or inhibiting cell growth depending on the cellular context.
WISP-1 is integral to the Wnt signaling pathway and the TGF-beta pathway. These pathways participate in many developmental processes and are essential for tissue repair and regeneration. Through the Wnt pathway WISP-1 interacts with proteins like beta-catenin influencing gene expression that regulates cellular proliferation. In the TGF-beta pathway it may associate with Smad proteins contributing to cellular differentiation and immune responses.
WISP-1 relates to osteoarthritis and certain cancer types. In osteoarthritis WISP-1 modulates cartilage degradation suggesting its role in the progression of joint degeneration. WISP-1's link with cancer involves interactions with proteins such as P53 where it may promote or suppress tumor growth depending on the context. These associations make WISP-1 a target of interest in drug development and therapeutic interventions.
