Biological function summary
Wnt10b influences cell fate decisions and plays a role in adipogenesis and osteogenesis. It is not standalone but part of the Wnt signaling complex involving interactions with other proteins such as Frizzled receptors and co-receptors like LRP5/6. Through these interactions Wnt10b influences the beta-catenin pathway impacting gene transcription and cellular differentiation.
Pathways
Wnt10b plays roles in the Wnt/beta-catenin and Wnt/JNK pathways. These pathways control embryonic development and are important for tissue homeostasis. Wnt10b activates beta-catenin which partners with TCF/LEF transcription factors to modulate the expression of target genes. This protein shows functional similarity and connectivity with other Wnt family members such as Wnt3a which also engages in beta-catenin signaling.
